«smiles4africa.org» is a non profit organization (NPO) and enables orphans and vulnerable children, adolescents and young adults in Africa to attend school. This is achieved by taking over the costs of school fees, teaching materials and other incidental expenses. smiles4africa encourages children and young people to attend vocational training and hereby contribute to a long-term sustainable future perspective.
Caroline taught Teenage Mothers at the Teenage Mother’s Centre near Kampala.
Olivia a member of our non – profit organization made a three-month internship in Kalangala.
What did we do during our commitment ?
Caroline made it her responsibility to provide the students with a good diet and for this, planted a vegetable garden. She handed this over to Mathias, who is 20 and comes from the Village. In the afternoons she taught stitching to the P3, 4, 5 and P6 students. They all sewed a bag and a skirt.
Toni kept himself busy building a carpentry workshop, a classroom for needlework’s and a compost toilet. Equipments like Tables, sewing machines and tools were supplied. After finishing the building and the bathroom, Toni built school benches, stools, toys and shelves with the boys.
